SEBD07

Although belatedly (still learning the ropes!), I wanted to write about the wonderful event I the privilege to take part in as a staff member. I'm talking about the 15th Italian Symposium on Advanced Database Systems (SEBD07), which this year was hosted by the Computer Science Department (DIB) of the University of Bari, IT. It was a really terrific experience since I had a unique opportunity to rub shoulders with people who are at the forefront of Database research. Such meetings were inspiring both on a personal level and, more importantly, on a professional level. Several of the people I met at the conference had been involved in Web usage mining (either directly or indirectly) or had presented works which could be employed in my project. Incidentally, I was amazed at the number of people who showed real interest in my current project; some of them have even invited me to join them at academic institution they work for to discuss the results of my work as soon as I start producing them!

Web usage mining project

I am currently working on Web usage mining project co-funded by the European Social Fund, by the Italian Ministy of Labour and Welfare, and by the government of my region, namely Apulia.
The aim of this project is to develop new algorithms to mine Web usage data such as those returned by Google Analytics(TM).
